Objective:Interpersonal relationships are a key factor which can affect psychological health,and high interpersonal trust degree is benefit for cooperation with others andimproving social movement efficiency. Most medical students will work on medicinein the future, and their professional characteristics not only request them to masterperfect technique, also to have the ability to deal with reasonable interpersonalrelationship. This paper analyzes the influence of parenting styles on interpersonaltrust of students in vocational colleges from the family factors and puts forwardcorresponding family educational countermeasures, to provide reference forcultivating college students’ good psychological quality, and raise the level ofmental health.Methods:Self-administered questionnaire was applied in the survey on879seniortechnological medical students who enrolled in September2012. Population sociologycharacteristics of students,parents upbringing (EMBU) and interpersonal trustevaluation (ITS) were surveyed.Results:1. The factor scores of parenting styles of students in vocational collegescompared with normal, parents’ emotional warmth understanding, punishment,preference subjects factor scores are higher than the norm.These existed significantdifferences in the parental rearing styles of university students with differentsexes,origins, whether the one-child, parents educational level and occupation,monthfamily earning.2. The scores of special trust in a senior technological medical students were27.85±5.63,general trust were46.64±6.34,interpersonal trust were74.49± 7.58.Students whose interpersonal trust have not reached the standard (<75points)accounted for48.24%,and reached the standard(≥75points) accounted for51.76%.Boy, father’s cultural degree above technical secondary school, father’s occupation forthe intellectuals and cadres, the students with high family income have higher scoreon generally trust and interpersonal trust.There were significant differences in thestudents’ interpersonal trust with different father’s cultural degree, occupation, familyeconomic income.3. Parents’ rearing patterns had some effects on college students’ interpersonaltrust. Father emotional warmth understanding is the positive influencing factor toboys’ interpersonal trust and is negative the influencing factor to that of the girls.Father’s preference, denial is the positive influencing factor to the students’interpersonal trust.4. Countermeasures and suggestions:Parents should learn the correct methodshow to educate their children, and should not interfere, or overprotect, or spoil toomuch.The school should build a good atmosphere for learning, create positive life forstudents, provide a chance for students to trust others.Conclusions:1. Rate of reaching the standard on higher vocational medical college students’interpersonal trust is not high, just accounting for51.76%, and it is necessary to causethe attention of schools and families.2. Parents’ rearing patterns had some effects on college students’ interpersonaltrusts, especially father’s emotional warmth understanding, preference subjects, anddenial. Father emotional warmth understanding is the positive influencing factor toboys’ interpersonal trust and is negative the influencing factor to that of the girls.3. Parents should learn the correct methods how to educate their children, andshould not interfere, or overprotect, or spoil too much.The school should build a goodatmosphere of learning, create positive life for students, providing a chance forstudents to trust others.
