Abstract/Summary:
The games in this paper refer to activities in psychological activity class in primary school, designed by teachers on the basis of certain psychological activity themes in order to guide the pupils to participate in class voluntarily, complying with certain rules of games and involving certain psychological experience. The application of games is aimed at guiding the pupils to naturally express emotions and themselves, helping them gain experience and perception, so as to promote the development of their physical and mental health.On the classification of the game, the mental health education in primary and secondary schools guidelines(2012 revision) clearly points out that primary mental health education includes self-awareness, learning ability, social interaction, emotional adjustment as well as living and social adaptation. Therefore, based on the functions of games, games in this paper are divided into self-awareness games, puzzle games,interpersonal games, emotional adjustment games.Through extensive research and in-depth analysis, the following conclusions have been reached: 1.Application of the games in psychological activity class in primary schools is like this: Both Teachers and Pupils endorse the application of games.Teachers believe that games can improve the activity effects and promote pupils’ psychological development, and they have made a number of attempts. Pupils love games, willing to participate in all kinds of games.2.Main problems existing in the application of the games are: Hardware limits(including venue restrictions, game items restrictions, security restrictions, time limits, etc.), teachers’ professional quality limits(Psychology teachers in primary schools are mostly part-time. They’re lack of systematic theory accumulation and game counselling skills.), lack of good game assets,lack of tested game modes and difficulty in scientific evaluation of the game effects.Faced with this situation, the author has put an Ace team together, focusing on resolving the two major problems: "lack of good game assets", "lack of game mode".Through extensive research,proper game resources have been developped, fitting game activity patterns have been built, the effects of the game application combined with practical lessons analised,and the problems requiring attention in the application of games summarized.The application of varied, interesting and creative games in primary school psychology class, this study suggests, will play an active role in enriching the forms of psychological activity class, in enhancing the effectiveness and in achieving the activity goals. This study shows that applying games to psychological activity class in primary school can promote the development of pupils’ self-awareness, learning ability, social interaction, emotional adjustment as well as living and social adaptation, and thus improve pupils’ psychological quality. This paper advances the study on game application in psychological activity class in primary schools, and also provides a theoretical basis and a practical reference for Teachers’ scientific and effective mental health education.
