For a long time, the intellectually disabled people are always regarded as never to be mature, and they are thought to barely have sexual consciousness and impulsion. But researches show that the physiological development of the intellectually disabled teenagers is the same with that of normal teenagers. As they grow up, they will become vaguely conscious about sex and conduct some undisguised sexual behaviors, which affect their development and prevent them from integrating themselves into the social life and trouble the sexual education teachers and related parents a lot as well. As a result, the sexual education of intellectually disabled teenagers is significantly urgent.Who are supposed to be responsible for the sexual education to intellectually disabled teenagers? What and how to teach in the special school class? In this study, the author is in charge of one eight-grade class in the Chengdu W special school, as an intern teacher together with the Ms Liao in the resource center implementing the sex education lessons.Through questionnaire survey and individual interviews to twenty-five special education teachers in W special school and some parents of the intellectually disabled teenagers’ in grade eight, it is found that these teachers and parents were all aware of these students’ emotional problems and bad behaviors when the students get into the adolescent term. They think that these students should be given sexual education. However, they do not conduct any valid activities thoroughly. The parents always rely on the special education teachers to help those students. But the teachers are not willing to carry out sexual education lessons at all.By choosing or compiling the textbook, the investigators conducted the sexual education to the W special school’s six students in grade eight during one semester. These lessons have four themes, including the differences between the male and female, where do I come from, how to prevent sexual invasion and interpersonal communication. At the end, several teaching methods that suit for the intellectually disabled teenagers are summarized. The results show that the intellectually disabled teenagers could know more about sexual knowledge through sexual education, which can help them reduce their bad behavior. But without individualized teaching plans and the lack of valid support from these students’ parents mainly leads to the poor achievement of sexual education. In the process of implementing this study, we met some problems including not know what and how to teach in the class, which indicated the serious insufficiency of domestic research about the intellectually disabled teenagers’ sexual education. It should be advocated by the educational department in the government to have these special education teachers and parents take related sexual education training to improve their recognition to these educational programs. Also it should be highly encouraged to develop the sexual educational resources, which can provide sexual education teachers more abundant teaching resources and medium of education.
