This study centers the disintegration of the traditional family education in China, elaborating the process of disintegration of the traditional family education, exploring the reasons for the collapse, and analyzing its impact on modern education. Logical speculative method and method of comparison research are adopted on the basis of literature research. The first chapter of the body is an overview of the traditional Chinese family education. As a historical category, the traditional family education naturally had experienced phases of its occurrence 、development and maturity,in which process it had established an integral 、 strict and perfect system with unique traditions and characteristics of the Chinese People, such as an emphasis on moral education and personality cultivation, and highlighting the benefits of family and the country. Traditional family education had been playing a very important role in the course of development of Chinese society. It had cultured generations of people meeting the needs of the traditional Chinese society, and it had passed down the heritage of Chinese culture, promoted the progress and upheld the stability of families and the country. It can be said the traditional family education had been adapting to the development of the society in the most time of history. The second chapter elaborates the disintegration of the traditional family education. In the process of disintegration, the basic framework of the traditional family education had broke down and its core elements hadbeen lost, which could be recognized in four respects as follows :the decline of traditional moral education; the ignorance of traditional instructional content of the Confucian; the break-down of the mode of the family and clan education dominated by parents; the abandon of traditional ways such as strict discipline、rigid family rules、and the way of practicing what one preaches, etc.The third chapter explores the causes for the disintegration of the traditional family education. The destiny is doomed and inevitable, which is in line with the overall trend of the times. However, inevitability contains contingency, hence, it is necessary to determine the nature of it and identify the causes for the disintegration of the traditional family education. Many factors account for the disintegration, and they are as such: political and economic changes of the society, especially political revolutions; changes of families as cells of the society; cultural conflicts between the traditional Chinese culture and western cultures; reforms and developments in education. Among these causes, changes of politics and economics are the most fundamental and direct ones. And the changes of politics and economics were so violent and radical that their requirements or practices for many areas were brought about too simple and roughly and were put to extremes. Consequently, a wide range of traditional things including the traditional culture and traditional education were overturned thoroughly and cast as rubbish. The traditional family education could not survive, being subjected to severe criticisms and total negations. As a result, a lot of good ideas, theories, experiences and practices failed to be effectively inherited. It seems to us that the disintegration of the traditional family education is a non-normal process. The fourth chapter demonstrates the challenges to the modern education with the disintegration of the traditional family education, which accompanied a series of complications. It is revealed in this paper that there are mainly four challenges: the collapse of the cultural foundation of education; the dilemma of moral education; the crisis of belief education; the stray of labor education. It should necessarily be noted that the challenge used here means partly contributing to or exacerbating these problems or no way to effectively mitigate these difficulties and to get rid of them, rather than ascribing these problems directly and solely to the disintegration of the traditional family education. An explicit and specific conclusion is not stated in the paper, and the intention of the research is permeated in the text. It uses traditional things to satirize the present reality, that is to say, it talks about the construction of modern family education system on basis of dialectical succession on the traditional family education.
