As a new teaching mode, with the excellent teaching achievements, guiding case teaching mode is valued by more and more educational experts and teachers. The focus of the new elementary education curriculum reform is to cultivate students’ self-learning ability. So the students could enjoy the quality education and gain the all-around developments. Guided learning plan changes the atmosphere in the traditional classroom. Using the guided learning plan in the English class, we can create an efficient class and a teacher-led、student-centred class. In author’s school, all the English teachers are also actively exploring the design and application of the guided learning plan according to the status of students.The purpose of this thesis is to confirm the usage of guided learning plan can create the efficient class and cultivate students’ abilities. In this thesis, the author explored the status of the guided learning plan’s design and application by using the methods of teaching experiment, questionnaire to objectively display in author’s school, how the teachers design and apply the guided learning plan in English class and what’s the influence on teachers and students with the implementation of guided learning plan. To make the full use of guided learning plan, teachers should first design an efficient guided learning plan and then apply it in a scientific and effective teaching method. The author chose Class 2, Grade 8 and Class 4, Grade 8, in Wuhan experimental junior high school, respectively as the control class and the experimental class in the teaching experient. In the control class, author adopted the traditional teaching mode and used the guided learning plan as a classroom exercise or homework. While in the experimental class, author used guiding case teaching mode. After the experiment, author investigated all the English teachers in school and all the students in the experimental class. The results of experiment and questionnaire survey show that using guiding case teaching mode is more favorable to achieve learning objectives, create efficient classes, and cultivate students’ autonomous learning ability, and it can also change the traditional concepts of both teachers and students to achieve harmonious unity of both teaching and learning.However, it also relects some defects through the experiment and the questionnaire. As for the teacher’s questionnaire survey, the base is too small. And in the teaching experiment, because the difficulty of the three tests are different, the experimental datas are not accurate. As for the design, compilation and application of guided learning plan, it also inevitably exists some shortcomings in author’s school. Teachers need to consider more strategies for improvement. For the thesis, the study fully confirmed the advantages of guided learning plan. Based on the autonomous learning strategy and cooperative learning mode, guided learning plan truly improves the efficiency of classroom teaching, leaves a positive impact on teachers and students. It also provides a great power for the new curriculum and quality education. This thesis also can provide teaching inspirations and advice on guiding case teaching mode for English teaching in junior middle schools.
