In recent years, with the development of the western region and the implementation of the "Yuan Jiang plan", Xinjiang province has been developing rapidly; however, many social problems arose with the development of the region. Moreover, Mir Li has proposed that the main problem of the frontier is social work. Facing with the special circumstances, what the national social work in the initial stage needs to do is to play the role of solving social problems. Furthermore, through local practice to find some new ways so that the national social work can be a useful tool to help our country to solve the problem of minority nationality.Through field survey to explore the development of the national social work in K city.: the national political demand-oriented social work has been integrated into the work of the government in practice. The government’s leading power was too strong so that it made the social work change to be administrative, but at the same time this change won the recognition from the government and the nation. Under the pattern of the local multi-culture, social work began to carry out services which were guided by multiculturalism and develop national culture in the perspective of "cultural commons" in order to explain that the national social work needs to learn about the "culture sensitive" and face the national identification squarely in practice. In the aspect of nation, the local people showed a sense of belonging to the ethnic groups and sensitive social relations. Faced with this reality, the first thing that can be done by social work is to "remove sensitive"; it means that social work needs to reduce or even eliminate ethnic sensitive issues as participants to achieve social governance and point out national social work reflects its national differences compared with the traditional social work. What is more, summing up the national social work’s three practical characteristics of political, cultural and ethnic, and analyzing their role in social work. At last we should know how social work will respond to those, as well as what the two expect to achieve and how they can achieve their expectation. In the end, this paper puts forward some thoughts on national social work with the hope of providing some experience and information for the development of the social work in China.
