Ethnic identity and inter-group attribution are the issues that are paid attention to by the current academic circles including Anthropology , Sociology and Psychology in China. For twenty years, some foreign experts have attained some valuable academic findings. But the research is very late in respect of them in China, there is almost empirical research. Aided by interviewing, the study adopts the self-made Han, Tibetan and hui undergraduates' ethnic identity and inter-group attribution questionnaires to examine ethnic identity, inter-group attribution and the relationship between ethnic identity and inter-group attribution of the three ethnic groups in China. The number of Han undergraduates are 204, Tibetan are 193, Hui are 166. The main results are the following: 1.The Tibetan undergraduates is more obvious and easier to reveal than Han and Huiundergraduates in terms of ethnic identity, that is to say, the ethnic identity ofHan and Hui undergraduates is more concealed and is not easy to reveal. 2.Generally speaking, the female undergraduates are stronger than males undergraduates in terms ofethnic identity, especially in the respect of the feeling. 3.Generally speaking, the undergraduates of pastoral area get more scores in respect of recognitionand behavior than that of rural area, town and city undergraduates, the difference is significant. But the undergraduates of rural area, town and city get more scores in respect of feeling than thatof pastoral area undergraduates, and the difference is significant. In ethnic perspective, there are no internal differences in every ethnic group, except that the Hanundergraduates of city get more scores in respect of recognition than that of town undergraduates, and the pastoral area undergraduates get more scores than that of rural, town and city in terms ofbehavior.4. Parents' educational level produces no effects on the ethnic identity of every ethnic group.5. Han and Hui undergraduates attribute success to inward factors, but Tibetan undergraduates attribute success to outward factors, the differences are significant. Tibetan undergraduates get more scores in terms of failure inward attribution than that of Han and Hui , the difference is not significant, but in terms of failure outward attribution, the difference is significant.6.Generally speaking, rural area, town and city undergraduates are inclined to attribute success to inward factors, but the pastoral area undergraduates are inclined to attribute success to outwardfactors, meanwhile the pastoral area undergraduates are inclined to attribute failure to outward factors, the differences are significant. In ethnic perspective, the rural, town and city undergraduates of Han attribute success to outward factors, the city undergraduates are inclined to attribute failure to outward factors. There is no difference in respect of success attribution in Tibetan and Hui, but in the aspect of failure, the pastoral area undergraduates of Tibetan are inclined to outward attribution, the town and city undergraduates of Hui are more inclined to make outward attribution than rural area undergraduates, the city undergraduates get more scores than rural undergraduates, but there is no significant difference.7.Generally speaking, in respect of gender, female undergraduates get more scores in terms of success inward attribution than male undergraduates, the difference is signifi- cant. But male undergraduates get more scores in terms of success outward attribution than female undergraduates, the difference is not significant. In terms of failure, female under- graduates get more scores in respect of inward attribution than male undergraduates, male undergraduates get more scores in terms of outward attribution than female undergraduates, the differences are not significant. In ethnic perspective of attribution of gender, except that male undergraduates of Hui get more scores than female undergraduates in the respect of success outward attribution, and the difference is significant, th...
