This thesis described the characteristics of learning burnout of the students from Shihezi A High School through measuring the students learning burnout and the satisfy extent of students’ needs. Furthermore, this research also tested the significance of differences of the students’ learning burnout points between a high points group and a low points group based on their points from the High School Students Basic Needs Scale. A connection between the students’ learning burnout and their needs satisfaction has been showed by the results.According to this survey, there are about 30.7% students has a score beyond the middle level. Though there is no significance of differences of general learning burnout points between the students with different genders, there showed this difference between two scale dimensions: emotional exhaustion and low self-efficacy in learning. It also showed significance of differences among students’ general learning burnout points and three scale dimensions: low self-efficacy in learning, students’ alienation from teachers, and physical exhaustion. Besides, there also showed significance of differences in the general points as well as some dimensions on the factor of physical condition, safety feelings, whether the student is able to do well in at least one subject or not, the attitude toward students by their guardian and how the students handle their negative emotions.In the survey of the needs of students, there shows significance of differences in different genders and grades. Both the general needs extent and every need level extend would influence the students’ learning burnout levels.Based on the results from the surveys and together with the results from interviews and observation, this research concluded that there existed common characteristics of the reasons for learning burnout in high school students group as well as individual difference. The most basic reason is inappropriate study motive, and this will lead to the more centered reason, lacking of self-efficacy in learning. Furthermore, it will be useful to enhance the students’ feelings of health and safety; help the students to gain the ability of doing well in at least one subject and dredge negative emotions and to let the guardians not be too strict or too indulge with their students for reducing the students’ learning burnout extent. It also has been stated in this thesis that education administrators from all levels should pay more attention about the prevention and correction of high school students’ learning burnout situation. This research has offered suggestions for education administrators from different levels on how to use their specific resources to help high school students build appropriate study motive and enhance their study feedback and then control the learning burnout situation.
