Teacher Burnout is one type of passive, indifferent and exhausted negative emotional state caused by the inability to deal with the overload work stress effectively.This emotional state owns three dimensions including emotional exhaustion depersonalization and diminished personal accomplishment. While the foreign research about Teacher Burnout has already been systemic, the research in this area in China started relatively late. It is quite crucial to study the Teacher Burnout.To begin with, we take the teachers in seven universities in Shanxi as object of study and establish the data base with questionnaire survey. Our statistical analysis on304 questionnaires is finished with Spss20.0. Finally we have the following results:Teacher Burnout of teachers in Shanxi displays middle level. Particularly, emotional exhaustion and depersonalization are middle level while diminished personal accomplishment is low level; Female teacher is more likely to fell Teacher Burnout than male teacher; Teacher with age between 30 to 40 is more likely to be subjected to emotional exhaustion; Teachers with Ph.D degree, with teaching age between 5 to 10 or divorced are more likely to feel job stress; Associate professor is likely to suffer from depersonalization and lack of diminished personal accomplishment; Teacher specialized in art and sports is more likely to feel emotional exhaustion; Teacher whose initial dream job is education feels less job stress. As for the job stress, we rank the influential factors in declining order: job security, workload, work pleasure, teaching security and relationships. The demographic variables such as education background,work title, the curriculum they teach and the reason why they choose take on thiscareer are important impact factors while the demographic variables such as age,teaching age, marriage have no significant difference in these three dimensions. The object support score of university teacher is low while the subject support score and support utilization score are high. The job stress, social support and job exhaustion are closely related. Besides, we employ Learned helplessness theory, Person-Environment fit, Conservation of Resources theory and Marx’s Labor Theory of Alienation to analyze the causes of the research results. Finally, we should make effective use of social support, reformation of university education and their own efforts to figure out the cure to Teacher Burnout.
