The education and teaching of ideological and political courses is an important channel for middle school students to carry through the moral education. And the teaching abilities of teachers which are directly influential to the effectiveness and efficiency of teaching activities, are not only the basis and guarantee to succeed in the ideological and political education, but also crucial to the formation of students’ thought and political consciousness.Based on literature browsing and practice survey, this paper takes the teaching ability of ideological and political course teachers in high school as the research object, and attempt to do research on these aspects like the essential teaching abilities of teachers, the dificiency of teaching ability, the significance of promoting teaching abilities, the method of the promotion, etc. The following is the paper’s logic structure:The preface part starts from the speech of General Secretary Xi Jinping on the responsibility of teachers, discusses why we should pay more attention to the teaching ability of ideological and political course teachers in high school and combs and analyses on the current situation and the existing problems in the researches of the domestic experts and scholars. Then it discusses the following aspects. The first is to strengthen professional knowledge of the ideological and political course teachers. The second is to be oriented on students and to promote the comprehensive development of students. The third is to improve the ideological and political course teachers’ scientific research and innovation abilities. The last is that the ideological and political course teachers should set oneself an example to others, take the lead, and take practical action on guiding the students to form the good moral behavior and other aspects.The first chapter discusses the connotation and basic composition of teachers’ teaching abilities from the macro aspects, then discusses teaching abilities which ideological and political teachers should equip, such as the high political identification ability, political consciousness, ideological education ability, emotional impact ability, etc., and the significance of improving the teachers teaching abilities at last.Associated with the reality, the second chapter discusses the deficencies and its reasons of teaching abilities of high school ideological and political course teachers, such as the high ideological and political course teacher can not grasp the relations of different subjects, the lack of innovation in teaching work, the lack of self-improvement consciousness, and the ignorance of the emotional factors in teaching.The third chapter is the main body of this paper and the key chapter, and discusses the method to promote the teaching abilities of ideological and political course teachers from four dimensions. Starting from the discussion of the teachers themselves, the first section presents that teachers should strengthen their own ablities, including the comprehensive promotion of teaching ideas, their knowledges, emotions, behaviors, and innovation abilities, and proceed self-reflection and summary constantely. In the second section, from the perspective of school, the school should create conditions for teacher’s teaching ability development, including the creation of teachers’ teaching incentive mechanism, the improvement of the overall assessment evaluation system, and the creation of a harmonious working atmosphere. From the perspective of society, the third quarter discusses the society should support the improvement of their high school ideological and political course teachers’ teaching abilities, education administrative department should strengthen the education and training for the teachers after going on duty, and the propaganda department which are related to the education department should properly construct public opinion for the recognition of the teachers. The fourth sector simply discusses the methods of improving teachers’ abilities on a combination of the methods in foreign countries, among which the improvement of the level and structure of the normal education, and paying attention to the teacher’s in-service training practices are worth learning and using for reference.
