| Interest is the best teacher. If students do not have interests, they will not have thirst for knowledge. The traditional way of teaching English pays much attention to imparting the knowledge of textbooks and the contents are as sharp as marbles. Besides, the teaching methods are single and boring, which makes the class look dead as a doornail. Teachers ignore the cultivation of practical skills and students’ physical and mental development. What’s more, teachers do not care students’ subjectivity and emotional experience, which extremely influences their enthusiasm of learning and makes them lose interest in English. Anyway, those rigid and inflexible English teaching methods have been unable to satisfy the changing times and the requirements of students. For pupils, their interests in English learning depends on the fun teaching of English teachers greatly, which means fun teaching plays an important part in primary-school English teaching. So, English teachers must start with pupils’ characteristics of physical and mental development and their cognitive principles. And in the process of English teaching, teachers should try best to create an interesting class, stimulate pupils’ interests in language learning and let them participate in class and acquire knowledge actively in a happy, relaxing teaching and learning environment.On the basis of analysis about the connotation of fun and fun teaching and the necessity of fun teaching, the author will make a survey about the present situation of primary-school fun teaching. And the author will analyze the present situation and problems found in the survey, then explain causes and propose effective strategies to promote primary-school fun teaching. This entire thesis is divided into five parts:The first part is introduction that shows us the reason of choosing this theme, the meaning of thesis, research review, and research design and research methods.The second part mainly expounds fun teaching from the conception of fun and fun teaching and the connotation and necessity of primary-school fun teaching.The third part shows the theory basis of primary-school English fun teaching.The fourth part is the analysis of five ways to make English fun teaching.The fifth part is about the analysis of practical problems during fun teaching and to give some suggestions to improve fun teaching for teachers.The last part shows us reflections about this research and conclusion of this thesis. |
