Education of home culture is a kind of emotional education that taking advantage of contents about home culture contained in the Chinese textbooks. It is an important content in the emotional education objectives of Chinese teaching. Contents of home culture education contained in textbooks of junior middle school could be classified into three levels: warmth of family, belongingness of homeland and identification of culture. It is the easiest part for students to perceive and touch that the emotional transmission of family warmth. Emotional catharsis of homeland belongingness is not only to express missing of homeland that experienced the growing procedure, but also the pursuit of own spiritual home from the emotion and mind. Identification of culture derives from the praise of motherland and the perception and cognition in the textbooks.Education of home culture in the Chinese teaching in middle school could be expanded in three kinds of teaching activities: reading, writing and after school activities. In the reading, it will focus on excavating the emotion of students about family warmth, homeland belongingness and culture identification in order to cultivate students’ sense of kinship, belongingness and cognition. In the writing, it will practice writing by the topic of home culture from three basic points: family, homeland and motherland. Furthermore, some expanding activities could be held after classes, for example, the reading activities of parsing kinship, discovery of homelands’ beauty, reading about pursuing history of motherland. In summary, teachers should help students build a fundamental spiritual home through the education of home culture.
