The purpose of the study was to practice and to establish a teaching method by analyzing the current situation of engraving teaching in elementary art education of China, included questionnaires, in-class observation, literature search and analysis of statistical data. The results revealed that elementary art teachers of China were not skillful or experienced in this field of engraving and were not capable to make properly comments on the works of students.Meanwhile, the traditional contents of engraving teaching, which needed to be improved, was lacking in variety and interest. The replicable, occasional, indirect and experimental characters of engraving were distinctive and superior to other art forms and therefore could not be replaced. Based on the present state of elementary art education of engraving studying concluded creating an impressive circumstance and designing a series of complete curriculums to attract the interests of students and developed their practical ability and cogitation conversion capability to move further consequent on developing comprehensive talents through studying in engraving in elementary art education.
