Pop music originated in the United States In the early 19 th century in the late 20 th century, along with the rise of industrial civilization, agriculture and industry of the urban population structure has changed, lower labor emerging culture began to sprout, to express the need of people missing relatives, elicits emotions, pop music came into being. The Chinese pop music was born in Shanghai in the 1920 s, after the reform and opening up and spread by the Hong Kong to China mainland, to today have been closely related to people’s life. Music education is bound to be related to the social environment, in today’s society is an era of rapid development, communications developed. Pop music because of it’s easy to learn, rhythm and lively characteristics and loved by the masses, but also the enormous impact on high school students of the hearts of young group. Teachers should response to the “ordinary high school music curriculum standard” policy, advocating music aesthetic as the core, guide students to understand cultural diversity, to cultivate students’ interest in music. High school students is a high school music education object, but it’s on the pop music identification ability needs to be improved. So teachers should choose what kind of songs into the classroom, and by importing the pop music to the classroom and how to promote teachers on pop music teaching should pay attention to the problem.The article is divided into four parts.The first part is the discussion on the value of pop music in the high school music classroom.Based on the literature review,the value of pop music should be affirmed and it can be taught in the high school music classroom. The value discussion is mainly analyed from several aspects such as necessity,feasibility and significance in the high school music classroom.The second part is the investigation and analysis of pop music taught in the high school music classroom.This part mainly introduces the students and teachers’ questionnaire design and object, students and teachers’ questionnaire statistics results and analysis, school practice observation, case analysis.I thought that there are four main issues of pop music used in high school classroom.The teaching object aims at the instrumental goal, the teaching implement is to teach the textbooks,the teaching content lacks the sense of the times and the pertinence and the teaching subject lacks the correct understanding to the pop music.The third part is to provide the corresponding solution to the problem above.Set clear target in the pop music teaching;teaching content should be broadened to let pop music in;teaching process should be based on the learning of students and teachers’ understanding of pop music should be improved.The last part is conclusion.To summarize the present and practice situation of pop music taught in the high school classroom,aims to contribute for the students “all-round development” through the way of pop music ncluded.
