Ma iji Grot to is one of China’s four grottoes,which is als o an important r epresentative of religious monuments on t he "Silk Road". The r emains and murals of Maiji Grotto occupy an important posi tion in the history of art,whic h is numerous,early in time and ca ves of different a ges have been preser ved in different le vels. Its r eli gious and artistic value ha s signi ficant references to religious studies and art course. For this reas on, Maiji Gr otto Art should be trea ted as an important teaching resources as sc hool-based curriculum in Gansu province, es pecially the for the pr imary and secondary schools of Ti anshui Ci ty. Thi s action has the s ignificanc e of arousing the i nterest to build the school-based curriculum of Tianshui, and e ven of the Gansu province. Under the circumstance of bot h huge l oss of local cul tural r esources and acade mia calls for prot ecting the traditional culture r esources,thi s st udy will attempt to introduce Maiji Gr otto Art as the school-base d curricul um to high sc hool art class. To me et the public’s need of traditional culture and to cultivate students’ love of local cul ture.
