Under the background of new curriculum reform, teaching wit is mentioned again and again. Exploring new teaching methods and teaching form become the first problem that middle school history teaching need to solve.As a dynamic generative process, middle school history always will randomly appear some unexpected problems, causing distress in the success of teaching activities. How to judge and solve these unexpected problems has become the most important problem that should be considered in the history teaching in middle school. In this background, the teaching wit is increasingly emphasized.Teaching wit is instantly generate under unpredictable specific teaching situation and is beneficial to teaching wisdom activities, and its essence lies in the practice. Teaching wit has unpredictability, flexibility, creativity and subjectivity, which is different with the teaching design, and has essential difference in teaching cunning.Teaching wit in middle school history isthe re-creation on the basis of historical facts, except for the general characteristics of the teaching wit, it has different characteristics with from other disciplines teaching wit: teaching wit in high school history require higher teachers’ teaching language; the focus of middle school history teaching wit is to guide and cultivate students historical thinking. Teaching wit of middle school history classroom takes students as the main body and is affected by the level of professional knowledge of teachers, teaching skills, teaching habit and emotion attitude. At the same time, it is restricted by factors of teaching environment, teaching time and classroom atmosphere.Teaching wit of middle school history is an effective supplement, and is conducive to developing harmonious relationship between teachers and students, which is the necessary condition to realize the new curriculum reform and the modernization of education. But the distress of adverse factors in the traditional teaching system, the backward education idea of the teacher and the limit of professional level of teachers and other factors restrict the initiation of middle school history teaching wit.The initiation of middle school history teaching wit requires the teacher have full autonomy. At the same time, the influence of social environment and school environment on the history teaching can not be ignored; the cultivation of the middle school history teachers’ psychological quality and professional skills is necessary conditions lead to teaching wit; adhere to the teaching reflection is important way of the initiation of teaching wit. In our country, the study on teaching wit is not full, teaching wit and subject teaching, especially the specific combination of history teaching is not sufficient, so there is an urgent need for further research.
