Life events and coping strategies are important indicators of mental health. For teenagers, middle school stage is a key period for their physical and mental development. In this period, students need to face critical changes in their physical and mental life. And their mental development status are mostly affected by family, school, society, environment and various aspects, especially their own national culture and psychological characteristic which make them vulnerable to immature negative states of mind, such as higher level stress and even some disastrous mental diseases. At present, relevant research about physical exercises for healthy mind is rare, especially in the aspect of physical training and coping strategies in ethnic minority students. However, at the key point of Hainan international tourism destination construction, it is urgent and pressing to promote and develop ethnic culture and pay more attention to physical exercises and mental health of middle school students of Li nationality.This research is based on three rating scales, namely, Rating Scale of Teenagers Life Events, Rating Scale of Middle School Students` Coping Strategies and Panzerabwehr Raken System(PARS-3) and has surveyed 470 middle school students of Hainan Li nationality. The result is analyzed by SPSS19.0. According to the survey, taking the correlation of physical exercises, life events and strategies into consideration, it can be concluded as follows:(1) The overall situation of Li middle school students taking part in regular physical exercise is poor, which is far behind the sports population standard. The participation rate of Li high school students taking part in physical exercise is related to the school, grade, gender.(2)Stress intensity of the Li high school students is high and study pressure and interpersonal relationship are the two main sources. The school and the grade have relatively effect on stress intensity.(3)In the face of all kinds of stress events, Li high school students tend to use positive coping strategies like problem-referring solutions and few of them choose negative ones like escape.Li students’ coping strategies is related to the school, grade and one-child family.(4)Moderate exercise can effectively reduce the stress intensity of Li middle school students, promoting their strength to adopt positive problem-referring coping strategies. The properly increasing of physical exercise time, intensity and frequency can effectively reduce the stress intensity of Li middle school students, promoting their strength to adopt positive problem-referring coping strategies, especially increasing their exercise intensity and exercise frequency.Based on the current situation of the construction of Hainan international tourism destination, suggestions named “1223” for the improvement of Li middle school students in Hainan are proposed as follows:(1) The “1” refers to the goal setting for improvement of overall Li middle school students` physical health, including the promotion of physical exercises as a key to reduce stress intensity and promote their capacity to adopt positive coping strategies, as well as providing more conditions to stimulate more Li students to take part in all kinds of physical exercises which can reduce regional disparities and realize balanced development.(2) The first “2” refers to two important measures as physical health at school and Sunshine Sports Initiative by means of paying more attention to students` individual differences in terms of regions,grades,genders as well as one-child family and highlighting exercise intensity and frequency properly with scientific guidance.(3) The second “2” refers to two major features to promote new methods of initiating more students to take part in physical exercise, which are making traditional ethnic sports as school subjects and establishing connections with large-scale sports events.(4) The “3” refers to three indispensable parts to all strategies mentioned above which are school, family and society. These three are the key points of creating sources and interactions in and around school for the healthily growth of Li middle school students.
