| Postgraduate education as the top of the national education, but with the influence of enrollment expansion, its teaching quality has been questioned by the public. After ten years of effort, the construction of teaching quality in Chinese colleges and universities has entered into the "deep". In this context, the continual deepening about the construction of teaching quality in colleges and universities needs the "learning" as the center, and needs to pay attention to students and their learning process. This study takes the learning engagement as a starting point, and uses quantitative research methods to mainly analyze the present situation of postgraduates’ learning engagement. Thus, it provides data support for the teaching reform of colleges and u n i v e r s i t i e s a n d t h e i m p r o v e m e n t o f p o s t g r a du a t e s ’ t e a c h i n g q u a l i t y.This study draws on “National Survey of Student Engagementâ€(NSSE), NSSE-China and “National Survey of Graduate Experienceâ€(NSGE).The questionnaire is made after the project screening and analysis of the reliability and validity. The present situation of postgraduates’ learning engagement in J university is investigated from five indexes as the level of academic challenge, learning enthusiasm and initiative, the interaction between teachers and students, the supportive extent of campus environment, and the richness of the educational experience. Through the descriptive analysis and difference analysis, conclusions of the study are as follows :The master graduate students’ level of student engagement in general is low. There is no significant difference in the different sex, different age, different students, whether to cross major to graduate student learning investment, however, a significant difference in different grades, different professional, different culturing form exist.There are differences among the five dimensions of postgraduate study in the overall level and its internal various parts, of which only campus support score is beyond medium observations, and the richness about the level of academic challenge, the level of interaction between teachers and students, learning enthusiasm and initiative and learning experience is lower.According to the research conclusion, this study raises the following suggestions: First, focus on learning experience of postgraduate and strengthen the management of the learning process. Secondly, moderately improve the graduate students’ academic assessment standard and increase the difficulty of academic challenge. Thirdly, establish the discussion interactive teaching mode and improve the course’s assessment method. Fourth, strengthen the communication between the mentor and students and encourage graduate students to participate in mentor’s research projects. Fifth, according to different student groups carry out fine management. |
