With the advent of the era of the knowledge economy, the socialdemand for talents is increasing, but the situation of collegestudents’ employment is more and more serious. The data in theChinese Journal of University Students’ Employment showed thatthe situation of college students’ employment in2014is still notoptimistic. Although the situation of difficult employment is relatedto many factors, the disaccord between the talents output byuniversities in China and the talents needed by society has a lot todo with the difficult employment situation at present. Someindustry officials report that parts of graduates are lack ofpractical experience, and these companies do not want to spendany human or financial resources in training the graduates who hadlittle practical experience, so they pay special attention to thestudents’ practical ability, which is an important reason of thedifficult employment. Therefore, changing the traditional teachingways of universities into new ways which is given priority toknowledge teaching and improving students’ practical ability andinnovation ability has become the urgent matter. In addition, the current education reform emphasize the importance of "cultivatingstudents’ active learning attitude","improving the students’ abilityof collecting and processing information, enhancing the ability ofanalyzing and solving problems, boosting the ability of cooperativelearning", which are consistent with the concept of project-basedlearning modes. The curriculum of Instructional Design is one of the majorcourses of Educational Technology, meanwhile instructional designability is an indispensable skill for students majoring in educationtechnology. This course covers more knowledge and its practicalityis strong, however, this course generally adopts traditional teachingmethods due to various limitations. Therefore, as the main field ofcultivating instructional design ability, its teaching effect is notoptimistic. The project-based learning modes which is based on thetheory of constructiveness and pragmatism education theory hasdeveloped more mature and formed a relatively completetheoretical system in foreign countries, we can try to use thistheory in the course of Instructional Design. The author put forward that we can introduce the project-basedlearning modes into the Instructional Design teaching according tothe practical problems and features of this course. This researchdiscussed the project-based learning modes’ application inteaching Instruction Design in detail based on previous studies byadopting documentation methods, comparative methods andcontent analysis methods. This paper mainly consists of four chapters. The first chapter isthe introduction part, which mainly analyzed the reason of selecting this topic, the research background of this study, theproblems occurred in the course of teaching Instruction Design, thenecessity of constructing the new teaching pattern of InstructionalDesign and the research methods in this study. The second chapterintroduced the connotation of project-based learning modes, thetheoretical basis of the research, research status at home andabroad. The third chapter introduced the related elements ofdesigning "Project-based Learning". This chapter includes severalparts: selection of the project topic, designing of learning activities, creating of learning environment, choosing of learning strategiesand layout of learning evaluation. The fourth chapter introduceddesign and the concrete construction of the project-based learningmodes in the curriculum of Instructional Design. The fifth chapterlisted the application cases of project-based learning modes in thecurriculum of Instructional Design. Finally, the author summarizedthe research achievements in the research, reflected on theresearch, and put forward problems remain to be solved.
