Intervention Research Of Social Work On The Parent-Child Relationship Of Single Mother Families

With the changes of our society and the transformation of concept, the traditional family model and marital relationship are under increasing attack, divorce rate increased year by year and other reasons make single-parent families an increasing trend year after year. As a major component of single-parent families, the number of single mother families is also rising year by year. Single mother families as a different form of mainstream families, a variety of social issues it brings attracted the attention of the community. Single mothers have common needs of how to develop a harmonious parent-child relationship, and some single-parents families are even deeply troubled by it.Nanjing Women Federation as a mass organization provides service to the majority of women and children, and safeguard the interests to the women, the organization takes care of the vulnerable groups of single mother at first, through the cooperation with Nanjing S social organization, and use the professional concepts and methods of social work, we carried out a comprehensive assistance project-----X project about helping single mother families in the whole citywide in 2014. This paper is based on the X project, using the method of literature analysis, participant observation and case interviews to analysis the information of the 14 single mother families’ parent-child relationship and get the main factors of affecting the relation between mother and child in single mother families. The factors includes the large household economy pressure, the poor social attitudes, the low adaptation to be a single mother, the wrong cognitive of mother and the inappropriate expectations of mother.we improve the parent-child relationship of single mother families by social work practice. Meanwhile, we applied the methods of social work to the relationship of single mother families and test the fitness, putting forward views and reflections on the specific practices from the concept of the service, the methods of the service, the skills of the service and the effectiveness of the service. Finally, we give the further improvement measures to the deficiencies of the practice. These measures include distinguishing these mothers who are divorced and who are widowed, linking to the topics of the group closely all the time,letting the children participate in the activities directly and paying attention to the individualization of clients.
