At present, human beings are faced with a variety of increasingly serious ecological crisis. In order to build sustainable development and ecological civilization social, people begin to explore,research and seek the new ways. Ecological education is the foundation of constructing the social ecological civilization, and the basic way to solve ecological crisis. And Ecological education is combined to basic education in primary and middle school. And it infiltrates and implements in the various disciplines continuously. Ecological education help the students establish ecological knowledge system, strengthen ecological awareness, cultivate good ecological behavior and habit. And it is the effective way to realize the sustainable development of society.Geography is not only teaching basic knowledge of geography, but also developing the geography literacy includes ecological literacy. In the background of the new curriculum reform and quality education, the implementation of ecological education in geography in middle school is the inevitable demand of the times and the necessity of quality education. Students not only master the basic knowledge of geography, acquire basic geographic skills and methods, but also understand the problems of ecological environment and social development, strengthen students’ love home and love the motherland humanistic emotion, and form the concept of sustainable development preliminarily. Ecological education content in the geography textbooks also provides reliable teaching material for the implementation of ecological education successfully.Firstly, this paper concludes and summarizes the course of development of ecological education at home and abroad, and understand that the implementation of ecological education in middle school geographical teaching exist some problems. The research literature combining ecological education and junior high school geography is focused on study on the ways of implementation of ecological education, but no research about the implementation of the present situation of ecological education. The main content of this paper is carried out a survey on the ecological education in junior high school geography. This survey mainly includes five aspects: middle school geography teacher’s ecological knowledge, ecological awareness, ecological behavior, teaching method of ecological education for teachers to use and school attitude on ecological education. Through the results of the survey statistics, collate, summarize and analysis, obtained that in the junior middle school geography in the implementation of ecological education there exist the following problems: firstly the impact of the traditional examination oriented education; secondly the teachers themselves lack of ecological literacy education; thirdly a single teaching method, Finally the social, school, family did not form the resultant force of education.In order to improve the effectiveness of the implementation of ecological education, this paper puts forward some measures. Firstly, correct the attitude of ecological education and optimizate the ecological education evaluation system in the school, forming a good ecological education atmosphere within the school; Secondly, the teacher can expand and improve their ecological consciousness, knowledge and skills using the pre-vocational education and on-the-job training to integrally improve their ecological literacy education; Thirdly, teachers should correct themselves’ attitude about ecological education. Teachers should pay attention to cultivating ecological consciousness, ecological knowledge accumulation of students, and pay attention to help and guide the students to form a correct ecological values, and formed the habit of ecological good behavior; Fourthly, teachers can adopt diversified teaching method for ecological education, such as case teaching method, the teaching method of the debate, role playing method, social investigation method. The diversity of teaching methods to make students realize the importance of the protection of ecology; Fourth, the school form the resultant force of education with the social, family through the improvement of ecological evaluation system of education, and together form the civilized and harmonious ecological environment of education. The result of this study is to improve the quality of teachers and rich the level of teachers’ theory plays a positive role in a certain extent,and provide the theory support for the sustainable development of social and ecological civilization.
