Entering the 21 st century, with the development of quality education and the implementation of the new curriculum standard and implementation of high school students’ autonomous learning ability become a hot topic. At the same time, the "China dream", a learning society, and innovative society and many other new idea is put forward, also provides a necessity to middle school students’ autonomous learning ability.The rapid development of the trend of The Times, the rapid development of economy is an important achievement of our country enters the new century, under the background of the society, more strict with the overall quality of talent and comprehensive, traditional education pattern have apparently can’t meet the requirements of age now. People not only knowledge, but also more effective knowledge rapidly, the traditional "teaching" and "learning" education mode, does not pay attention to the students’ autonomy and initiative has can’t meet the needs of the reality, the new curriculum standards also arises at the historic moment. Quality education as the core of the new curriculum standard, at the same time also stressed the students’ subject status, pay more attention to students’ autonomous learning ability. To improve students’ autonomous learning ability is the key to improve the quality of education, is the goal of education in the new curriculum standard teaching work.In this paper, on the basis of analyzing the problems, through the political course of middle school students in learning about various issues of autonomous learning, in view of students’ autonomous learning ability is weak, lack of interest in learning, study in the right way and teachers teaching idea lag, stick to the traditional teaching methods and other issues are discussed and research, by raising the students’ learning interest, cultivate students’ autonomous learning ability, reform the teaching methods such as concept, innovative teaching method middle school students’ comprehensive quality, so as to improve middle school students’ autonomous learning ability.
