Since 1960 s, the conception of "local knowledge " came into our vision and it is gradually become an important issue. In the field of education, in order to change the dominant position of national course and cultivate innovative talents, we put forward to build the three levels curriculum system of national, local and school in 2001. However, many of developed school-based teaching material are poor quality. One of a important reason is that lacking a systematic and scientific support of theoretical system in the process of developing school-based teaching materials. Based on the above background, this paper attempts to apply the theory of local knowledge into school-based teaching material developmen. Guzhu primary shool is one of the specific example.The first part of this article is a introduction, including background of the problem, the purpose of the research and significance, research thoughts and methods, research content, the review and so on.The second part systematically state the value of local knowledge in the development of school-based teaching materials and their relationship. It is the theoretical basis of the organic integration of local knowledge and the development of school-based teaching materials.The third part describes situation of Guzhu primary school, including the development and the background of constructing characteristic schools.The fourth part is the main part of this paper. The author collected many oral materials through the method of field survey and text analysis. This part mainly include the background of developing the school-based teaching material, the frame of the material, the text analysis of the material and the idea of compiling, the choice of content, the characteristic of the material and so on.The fifth part is mainly on teaching reflection. Based on the process of compiling teaching material, the paper elaborated some current problems that the author found.The sixth part is summary and outlook. We summarize the success or failurethe of current school-based teaching material development.At the same time, we also do some prospects for future research.
