STSE (short for science, technology, society and environment) education is the major trends in the world science education reform. "The ordinary high school chemistry curriculum standard" in China and South Korea in 2009 revision of the "science and education course" are fully embodies the STSE education thought. In this context, the two countries developed chemical textbooks to show STSE education thought.This study chose China and South Korea representative high school chemistry textbook (The high school chemistry textbooks for people’s education press in China and genius press in South Korea) as the research objects. Be using the literature method, content analysis method and comparative method in this study.In-depth analysis of the two countries textbooks from the dimension of eight STSE content, record the frequency of each dimension, calculating the ratio, and come to the conclusion:(1) For STSE education thought1) The two countries textbook content fully embody STSE education thought.2) The two countries textbook STSE content in different emphasis.(2) Embodiment the national development strategic thought1) The two countries both to embody environmental, economic and social sustainable development2) In China the resources, environment and energy problem more prominent than South Korea3) The South Korea’s environmental policy is more perfect than our country(3) The principle of the choice the textbooks content1) The two textbooks writing embodiment of chemical subject system, the unity of the social demand and student development2) The writing of the textbook in our country to better reflect the knowledge transferring, ability training and the integration of ideological education3) The writing of the textbook in South Korea to better combination between updating textbooks and screening the traditional content4) The writing of the textbook in South Korea though transfer training, and is conducive to cultivate the students’ability to migrate5) The STSE content of the South Korea penetrate the scientific inquiryBased on the comparison of the two countries 、the conclusion and cause, put forward the following suggestions:(1) The textbook content should be fully embody STSE education thought.(2) To follow the principle of textbooks.(3)On the choice of STSE content highlight the important problems in its development.(4) To strengthen students’ practical experience.(5) The textbooks of STSE education content should permeate scientific inquiry method.
