On the other hand, it provides wisdom for the development and innovation of the theoretical system of socialism with Chinese characteristics. However, as the talents for realizing Chinese dream, the contemporary college students have some deviations of their cognition of Mao Zedong thought. Enhancing their correct cognition of Mao Zedong thought has played an important role in providing talent support for the realization of Chinese dream. It can inhere their ideal believes, cultivate their noble moral sentiment and acquire excellent skills.The contemporary college students’ cognition of Mao Zedong thought is their attitude to Mao Zedong thought. The questionnaire shows that the contemporary college students have some problems on their cognition of Mao Zedong thought. They are not sure of the scientific system and the main content of Mao Zedong thought. Their understanding of the living soul of Mao Zedong thought is not complete. They don’t understand the contemporary significance of Mao Zedong thought. They lack the dialectical understanding of Mao Zedong’s mistakes in his old age. Therefore, it is necessary to improve the contemporary college students’ correct cognition of Mao Zedong thought. The analysis shows that the causes of the problems are multifaceted: the social historical factors, such as the influence of the utilitarian tendency, the market economy, the diversification value and so on; the college education factors, such as the lack of the effectiveness of the classroom teaching, the campus cultural influence, the practice activity interactive, and so on; the family and self factors, such as the differences of the family conditions, the college students’ personality and so on. In view of this, correcting the mistakes of the contemporary college students’ cognition of Mao Zedong thought is pressing. We must strengthen the ideological education, create a good environment, carry out teaching reform in colleges, innovate education system, improve the quality of the contemporary college students, train qualified talents and so on.
