Research on gender switching in online games and the influence this switching has on players’ overall perception of the notion of gender is mainly focused on how players’ perception of genders change over time through fusing their their online characters with themselves on a virtual online gaming platform. Even as the online game as an industry is booming with a more diverse range of subject matters, there have appeared a variety of genres, among them the role-playing game.According to Report on China’s Webpage Game Industry jointly issued by the Game Committee and CNG, role-playing webpage games have attracted the largest number of players from July to December,2013, accounting for90.7%of the total. In another research report, it shows the role-playing game has always been a favorite of the younger generation. The role-playing game has attracted more college students and they have become a representative group of the players. Gender switching (or gender swapping, gender crossing, gender bending) refers to transgender characters in online games, without loss of generality, it is the option available on online gaming platforms for game players to partially or fully reverse their genders, this switching can be both ways, male to female or female to male.Gender transformation during the course of the game players, the understanding of gender and remodeling has a certain impact. When players play the role of alter ego in the game, they demonstrated the demeanor and the reality of the true self has also conflicting interdependence. From personal experience in the game, allowing players to change the past gender. Whether it is in the game or in real life, around the opposite sex will produce a corresponding gender impact. In this paper, this phenomenon will be studied for the discussion to some extent.
