This article introduces the requirements of students’ innovation ability set down by thenew curriculum of basic education.And considering the connotation of systems thinking, italso points out that the introduction of systems thinking to high school chemistry teachingis in line with the new curriculum requirements. Therefore it is worth studying.This article also describes the effects of systems thinking on high school chemistryteaching and on teachers’ professional development. The results of investigation show thatthe introduction of systems thinking to high school chemistry teaching is necessary. Theauthor illustrates some ideas about the applications of systems thinking in chemistryteaching, including selection of teaching materials and approaches. This paper conductspractical research on the applications of systems thinking in research study and providestwo cases about the factors that influence the chemistry equilibrium. The author and hisstudents simulate the various factors that influence the chemistry equilibrium by usingStella software. The data provided by Stella also helps the students to understand thefactors that influence the chemistry equilibrium and the directions of horizontal movement.The study shows that using systems thinking in high school chemistry teaching is helpfulto improve the students’ learning interest and enhance their understanding of knowledge.
