At the national regime of "separation of powers" in the United States, the president plays an important role in the formulation of federal educational policies. The36th president of the United States, Lyndon Johnson claimed to be Education President, in pursuit of "education for all the people". He signed a total of40education acts, including two landmark education bills in American history-Elementary and Secondary Education Act and Higher Education Act. Johnson regarded education as an important part of Great Society reforms and a powerful weapon to the war on poverty. Under the guidance of Johnson, Great Society reforms help American education presents some prosperity:a large number of poor students got admission opportunity, many school buildings erected, teaching facilities improved, public libraries throughout the country built, and the overall education level of the United States has been greatly improved.President Johnson regarded education acts as weapons, help American education get a great amount of money and students get admission opportunity as many as possible. The author analyst two important education acts enacted during the administration of President Johnson and Johnson’s experiences-Elementary and Secondary Education Act and Higher Education Act. The author also explored educational policies’background, characteristics, implementation effect and its impact on American education and its enlightenment to the education development of our country.Although Johnson’s educational policy has a certain degree of romance, the educational policies help more poor students get educational opportunities, enjoy more educational resources and a better future. There is great meaning to the realization of education fairness, so it has a profound impact on the development of the education of the United States. It is woth learning and using for reference.
