Since2003, a new wave of history curriculum reform has started and spreadthroughout the middle schools. As one of the most important forms of the reform,thestandard of the history curriculum in ordinary high school (experiment) directs the reform.The newly-reformed history curriculum is not only closely keeping with the current socialdevelopment, but also fully embodies the general concept of the reform. Besides, it showsthe future development of history teaching to some extent. In the fourth part of the article,"the suggestion for the development and use of curriculum resources ", it clearly putsforward that audiovisual data belongs to one of the most important history curriculumresources, which should be served for history teaching under the present situation in orderto fulfill the expectation of the reform. As a sort of curriculum resources which is largelyappreciated by the students, Film and television production is widely applied in theteaching of history because of its intuition, vividness and reproduction of the historicalfigures and events.This thesis explores the possibility of the application of film and television productioninto teaching from the theoretical perspective. In particular, it provides the theoreticalbasement of the lead-in of film and television production into classroom-teaching from acorresponding analysis from three perspectives: the media literacy theory, the theory ofconstructivism and the theory of gatekeeper.Basing on the theoretical support, this thesis combines with the actual situation,analyses and explores under the background of new curriculum reform, how this teachingresource-the film and television production plays its role in a complete and reasonable wayin a history lesson. The conclusion of this thesis is that the reasonable use of film andtelevision production could not only improve the teaching effectiveness, but also achievethree teaching goals: the promotion of knowledge and ability, the process and method andthe attitude, emotion and the view of value. Besides, as an important supplementaryteaching method, the film and television production is particularly meaningful in the renovation of the idea of teaching, the construction of classroom-teaching and theimprovement of capacity of students. In order to present the real effectiveness of film andtelevision in the process of teaching, this thesis sets an example of one history lesson“Sino-Japanese War” from the compulsory history textbook of Grade One in High School.It proves the positive effectiveness of film and television production in different teachingsections: the lead-in of a new lesson, the solution of difficulties and the emotionalexperience. Finally, this article discusses extendedly the application of film and televisionproduction into several after-class studying activities, for example, the inquiry-basedhistory learning, the interpretation and appreciation of historical films and television andthe after-class historical activities. All in all, the film and television production plays arather important role in both in-class and after-class history teaching. Furthermore, it isalso a major supplementary teaching method under the background of new curriculumreform.
