The subject status of the student has been growing attention under the promoting of the new curricula reform. The application research on cognitive style becomes more and more important in the education field in more than a decade. As a variable to measure individual differences, cognitive style is attracting increasing attention of education researchers. There are plenty of research results of cognitive style abroad, most researches in China are while few on empirical research of Reflective-Impulsive on the field cognitive style. This study discusses the differences of mathematical characteristics for Reflective and impulsive students by combing survey method, quantitative analysis and qualitative analysis that includes assignment behavior observation and interview. It tested the cognitive style on179students who are the first grade junior middle school students by using MFFT20, then, investigated two groups of students who are tested as reflectivity style and impulsive style with questionnaire survey, and performed a study to these students on non-intelligence factors of mathematics and metacognition level through using student questionnaire of PISA and self-compiled metacognition questionnaire, after that, analyzed the obtained data by significant differences, meanwhile, analyzed two groups of students’Mathematical cognitive level via watching their performance in the math test. The experimental results show that students with R-I style have no significant differences on math while there are many students who are with learning difficulties among impulsive learners, but students with reflectivity style are better than those with impulsive style on math tests. In a word, students with two different cognitive styles have no significant differences on math while differences still exist between individuals. Maths teachers not only need to respect students who have different cognitive styles but also need to instruct strategy and do Metacognition training to those who are with learning difficulties in order to improving their math scores.
