Sequence of number is a special kind of function, a basic ma-thematic model which shows the natural law, plays an important role in middle school maths course, and makes a keystone in NMET(National Matriculation Entrance Test).With the combination of contents of the Chapter2of the compulsory student’s coursebook5of Jiangsu Education Edition, Guidebook of NMET Maths of Jiangsu of the year2014, and the curriculum standard of the Middle School maths, test questions of sequence of number of the NMET maths of the recent ten years are studied in this essay, where the documentary study method, comparison study method, and case study method are all used. The essay includes three parts:1), the test of the basic knowledge, basic skills, and basic ways of thought,2), the test of the comprehensive ability and the basic abilities, including the ability of abstract generalization, the ability of deduction and inference, and the ability of computation, and3), the test of application awareness and creativity awareness. The purpose of the study is to explore the inner law of the tests. It is found that test of basic knowledge, basic skills, and basic ways of thought, has been a keystone in the tests of all the cities of Jiangsu province but the test of reasonable deduction and inference, comprehensive ability and application awareness needs more attention, which leads to the teaching advice accordingly.In the final part of the essay, parts of the test questions of sequence of number of the NMET maths of the year2013and2014are studied from a higher perspective, whose aim is to get a deeper understanding and grasp of the NMET test questions.
