The introduction of visual thinking theory broke down the wall between perception and thinking, making a great contribution to the unification of the two. To human being, visual thinking is inherent. It is a universal ability of thinking. Thus, the ability of visual thinking is one of the essential abilities that people must handle in the age of visual culture. Although visual thinking theory roots in the artistic science, it can be applied to the teaching area. Developing students’visual thinking ability during the teaching process (?) not only required by the age, but it is also an important way to raise students’ social (?)daptability, enhance the connection between education and life, and improve the quality of education.This article first introduces the origin of visual thinking theory, and then probes into the content of it. After that, according to American scholar Mckim’s understanding of the content of the visual thinking, the author tries to explore how to develop students’ visual thinking ability during the teaching process, seeing from aspects of watch, image and construct.
