| With the improvement of urbanization and the implementation of family planning policy in China, there are less and less school-age children in rural areas, which causes a shortage for student source. Meanwhile, problems of the scattered layout, small scale, and low quality in rural elementary education are put under the spotlight. To adjust this situation, many schools have been merged with others or canceled across the countryside. It is obviously important to establish boarding primary schools (in order) to improve the quality of rural education, to promote the share of education resources, and to make sure every school-age children can enjoy the right to receiving education. On (the) one hand, pupils can benefit from the fine management of boarding schools, enjoy a closer relationship with teachers and peers, and forge their life skills. On the other hand, however, lacking the basic facilities in daily life and faculty is its weakness, as well as the mental health status of students is often ignored in this way. In this thesis, the author studied the adaptation of students living in the boarding school, and put forward several suggestions from different aspects of policy, school, family and the students themselves after analyzing the factors that can impact the students’ growth.An example of one region in Shaanxi Province is set in the thesis, also the author employed the questionnaire, interview and social support rating scale to investigate the adaptation of students in boarding schools. There are four parts as follows:Chapter One, introduction, in which problems, aims and meaning of this research and the relative studies, theories, objects and tools of study, as well as some concepts and innovation had been posed; Chapter Two tells the empirical research on the adaptation of students to boarding schools and carries on the statistics of the relevant data; Chapter Three is the analysis to the influence factors of the students’ adaptation, reflecting the main factors of this issue; Chapter Four concludes the advice and countermeasures of improving the children’s adaptation to boarding school life. The last, the author’s main opinions and the limitations and the outlook of this research are covered. |
