Since words and books produced, reading has become an effective way to obtain knowledge. As the scientists report, there is70percent of knowledge related to reading. Extracurricular reading equals to free reading. It combines learning with relaxing, and helps students shape their inner worlds. A good habit of extracurricular reading can make reading being a way of lifelong education. For boarding junior high school in rural area, extracurricular reading activity is a reasonable management which is safe and beneficial. For students of boarding junior high school in rural area, extracurricular reading is a way to develop interests, enrich life and obtain knowledge. Therefore, it is important for boarding junior high school in rural area to pay attention to extracurricular reading.Based on documentary method and questionnaire method, the study spreads itself from three diversions which are subject, process and object of extracurricular reading. It surveys students’extracurricular reading condition by researching three boarding junior schools in rural area as case study. According to the investigation, it reveals some issues. The issues includes in five aspects, which is limitation in time and will of extracurricular reading, not enough books for students and its content lacked of multidiscipline, single way of extracurricular reading and not having good reading habit, also support from teachers and parents altered. Then it reveals reasons for the issues, for example, the dynamic of boarding junior high school in rural area roots in exam-oriented education, so it pays little attention to extracurricular reading; the inputs to boarding schools in rural area from government is not enough relatively, as a result, extracurricular reading is ignored and its supporting facility is rough; the manage system is simple, which reduces students’flex time for extracurricular reading; in addition, there are little organization or guide for their reading. According to this, it is considered that to improve the students’ extracurricular reading of boarding junior high school in rural area, school needs to vale extracurricular reading and offered time and reading facility for students, teachers should read with students to be an good example, students needs to be guided and encouraged to do extracurricular reading. Through the improvement, we hope to develop boarding schools in rural area and promote their students’extracurricular reading. |
