Since the21st century, with the aid of a powerful thrust of the world information technologywave, our traditional social model is accelerating to change into a media society. Medium literacyeducation is not only a product of the development of medium society, but also a way to reply tostate of social development. In other words, the emergence of media literacy education isaccompanied by the emergence and development of media, and its emergence is to induce peopleto adapt to the way of life of the media community. However, due to its late start, our Chinesemedia literacy system is relatively weak, although it has been paid attention to, it has not beenpromoted in essence. Lack of an effective way is an important reason to the low effect of collegestudents· medium literacy education, and its result is that students become passive recipients ofinformation when they face the complicated media information. They have not enough abilities tounderstand, analyze, and criticize. There are some cases of college students· internet misbehaviourand even internet crime. Therefore, it is an important issue for the Colleges to strengthen collegestudents· media literacy education, to improve or optimize their media literacy levels, and toimprove their abilities of use and criticism in the media environment whose main feature isinteraction.Although existing research has been involved in participatory cultureμ or college medialiteracy educationμ, a lot of the literature only study the media literacy education of college students, lacking theoretical basis and becoming a "hollow to hollow" research. Some literature only analyzethe participatory culture, without discussions on the media literacy education of college students. Some of them merely borrowed the concept of "participatory culture", without(analyzing therelationship between the intrinsic nature of this culture and the college students· media literacyeducation. Some of them even studied both of two problems, but they often focus on the theorybuilding and the related logic without a practical analysis and measurement. The media literacy education of college students should focus on their cultural psychology asmedia audiences, and propose effective strategies and methods according to college students·cultural characteristics of media society, psychological characteristics and specific behavioralcharacteristics. Therefore, this paper starts with the internal mechanism of participatory culture inmedia society, hackle and integrate the media social theory, participatory culture theory and communication theory. And then this paper analyzes the current situation of college students·literacy education by a sample survey, and finally finds that college students have a strong sense ofdependence on new media, but the ability of using the media is lag behind. Although the awarenessof participating increases, the Silencer· group is still huge. This paper also summarizes thecharacteristics of media literacy education in some other countries and regions (U.S, Canada, theUnited Kingdom and Taiwan)where media literacy education started earlier and now these countrieshave more advanced ideas, more mature practices and richer experiences. And this paper combinesthem with the actual situation of Chinese education to reconstruct the ways to adapt to Chinesenational conditions by local reference. The detailed results are as follows:(1) to strengthen thetraining of media using skills with survival sight;(2) to enhance students’ identification ability withdiverse perspectives;(3) to enhance the self-creativity with criticism spirit;(4)to enhance the abilityof moral autonomy of media in the core of moral;(5)to improve practical ability of media by theway of inside and outside the school interaction;(6)to build the knowledge and behavior systems inthe life world background.
