Reading is the most important means of people to acquire knowledge and information, and it is one of the main way to input English language learning. English learning aims to master and use listening, speaking, reading and writing skills. While reading ability plays a crucial role in language learning and output, it occupies an important position in the teaching. To improve the junior middle school students’ English reading ability is one of the important goals of middle school English teaching. However, many current junior middle school students have many kinds of problems in English reading. For example, students don’t show great interest in English reading; students don’t have appropriate reading method; reading they don’t read enough reading materials; they have poor reading abilities. Moreover, students don’t know how to use reading strategies to improve the quality of English reading. For these reasons, it is significant and necessary to strengthen the English teaching and reading skills of junior middle school students and improve the students’ reading ability through the cultivation of English reading strategies.This article is about the junior middle school students English reading strategies and its application system studies. On the basis of the theory of learning pedagogy and other related disciplines, the author combines her own work practice and use some scientific research methods, such as literature method, experimental method, survey method, comparative method and so on. This paper expounds the importance of reading training to improve students’reading ability. Some investigations are used to know about the current situation of junior middle school students English reading strategies in order to reveal the existing problems of English reading teaching. At the same time, through the contrast test, several effective English reading strategies for junior middle school students are presented. It is hoped that the study can provide guidance and reference to improve the reading teaching and students’reading abilities in junior high school.This paper will be divided into four parts:The first part is an introduction that mainly introduces selected topic reason, the research purposes and meanings, research contents and methods as well as the review of the study on reading strategies.The second part makes an overview for related theory to English reading both at home and abroad, the relevant theory of reading are summarized, including the definition of reading, reading patterns, the definition and classification of learning strategies and reading strategies.The third part is the survey of students’ reading strategies application status. On the basic of students’questionnaire and interview with teachers, the current state of reading strategy application is investigated from the following aspects:cognitive strategy, meta-cognitive strategy, moral strategy and social strategy. The thesis analyzes the existing problems and improper usage of reading strategy, and reveals the problems existing in the current junior middle school English reading teaching.The fourth part discusses some ways for the cultivation of the junior middle school students English reading strategies. The experiments of students from two classes, who are from Grade 2 of Maoming Longling Middle School in Guangdong Province, demonstrate the effectiveness of this kind of reading strategies. Meanwhile, the test results show that the students in the use of reading strategies training, learning and reading interest has been effectively improved.
