Curriculum resources are the direct source of curriculum, which is the main carrier of the educational objectives. As a key term of curriculum reform and one of the essential factors of curriculum implementation, how well teachers and students exploit the curriculum resources determines the scope and level of the curriculum implementation. There are a wide range of chemistry curriculum resources, such as extracurricular experiments, recreational activities, lectures, chemistry contests, extracurricular visits and others. There exist abundant hidden curriculum resources in areas in Alukeerqin, Chifeng, Inner Mongolia, which can be exploited and applied to chemistry teaching based on the special advantages of a particular area. Making proper and full use of these local curriculum resources contributes to strengthening the awareness of exploiting chemistry curriculum resources and enhancing the implementations of chemistry curriculum reform in Alukeerqin, Chifeng, Inner Mongolia. Therefore, this paper attempts to analyze the significance of the research topic and illustrates current related research with literature review. Based on the behaviorism, humanism and constructivism theory, the researcher defines the related concepts and two specific extracurricular activities, namely “the Water Purification Process” and “Chemistry and Environment”. By means of questionnaires, the researcher does research on current situation of chemistry curriculum resources, examines the students and teachers’ understanding of chemistry curriculum resources and attitude to it in Alukeerqin, Chifeng and analyses the relation between types of activity and efficiency and factors influencing the extracurricular activities. Through investigation, the researcher finds out that students show great interest in the extracurricular activities and both teachers and students think highly of these activities. However, there exist some problems. For example, there are some misunderstandings of these activities among students and teachers and schools do not put enough emphasis on these activities. Furthermore, parents do not clearly understand the significance of these activities and there is not enough time for these activities.According to actual situation of this area and the research findings, the thesis attempts to put forward some constructive suggestions for exploitation of chemistry curriculum resources, such as perfecting the management system, stressing the management design and optimizing teacher instruction. Besides, the researcher also points out the limitation of the study and suggestions for further study. Extracurricular activities not only promote students’ ability to apply theoretical knowledge to explain daily phenomenon concerned and to solve practical problems. Thus, it is hoped that the study can provide scientific and rather objective basis for high school chemistry teaching and arouse teachers’ awareness of making full use of chemistry curriculum resources.
