With the development of global economic and international competition we need to make a better revolution of education to adapt the progress of society and technology. As the product of curriculum reform textbook has received a lot of attention. It is similar with our country’s reform that Japan has published the high school essential in March 2009. In this reform science curriculum made great change. Chemistry book I and book II turned to the books chemistry foundation and chemistry. These are two continuous curriculums. Our Ministry of Education has also published the chemistry course standard in 2003. in this new book chemistry books has been divided into two parts the required part and the elective part. As the circumstance of reform even though our textbook has been used for ten years I hope this thesis about the comparison between Chinese high school chemistry textbook and Japanese’s could make a contribution to our country’s write of chemistry textbook. This thesis takes data study, comparison study and analysis study to make a comparison between the two countries’high school chemistry textbooks in element compounds and try to find out the similarities and differences. The thesis is composed of four chapters. Chapter one is the analysis of core concepts about textbook, chemistry textbook, element compounds, content selection and organization. Chapter two is the literature review. Chapter threet is the main body of the contrast between the two countries’ chemistry textbooks in selection of element compounds and the characteristic of organization. Chapter four is the conclusion and suggests. Based on the first three chapters I hope the conclusion could have some contribution to our country’s chemistry textbook in selection and organization of the content of element compounds.
