Abstract/Summary:
Textbooks are the main confirmatory materials now used in education. Published in 2001 the publication "The Standards of Full Time Compulsory Education for Math" started the debate leading to educational reform and highlighted the importance of textbooks in education. So far there has been a lot of research done on textbooks, analyzing the many aspects of teaching materials, but most of this research was only comparing Chinese textbooks with-other editions of Chinese textbooks and there was rarely any research conducted on Taiwanese primary school math textbooks. By analyzing the research that had already been done and comparing it with the analysis of the Taiwanese primary school math textbooks we discovered an important failing in the organization of educational content.This essay using documentary analysis, content analysis, comparing analysis, and using the Taiwanese primary school math textbooks (Kang Xuan edtion) as research material we will firstly explain the theoretically level of using textbooks, explain the definition of content organization, and all the theoretical arguments pertaining to content organization, furthermore explaining all the background of textbook research. Secondly, using a vertical structural way to explain the framework of the Kang Xuan edition of the Taiwanese primary school math textbooks, we will talk about the three main aspects, the books composition, unit construction and contents structure. Then based on this analysis, summarize the essential attributes of the book. Finally analyze the insufficiency of the textbooks, give adaptive suggestions for the textbooks, making the textbooks better material for teaching.
