The New Curriculum Reform emphasizes that students are the main body of teaching. Due to the individual distinctions, it is required that teaching should meet the need of the personality development, teacher’s curriculum view and textbook view which must be coordinated with the new curriculum standard. So we teachers should focus on the development of the high school English textbooks.In order to encourage students to study English better and to promote the students’ language skills, with the help of document investigation methods and questionnaire methods, this essay is intended to find out the deficiency of current redevelopment of the textbooks. Then we can find the strategy which helps the teachers make use of the textbooks more creatively. Therefore, we can help the students to adapt to the current English learning needs better.With the help of the questionnaire survey, we have known the current situation of how the teachers use the textbooks; what the high school English teachers’ attitudes towards curriculum and textbooks are. Then find out the common problems the teachers meet with during the process of teaching. Then introduce some suggestions and strategies. Provide the teaching suggestions of creative use of the English textbooks; construct the model of the redevelopment of the textbooks; analyze the strengthens and weaknesses of Oxford Senior English and stimulate the teachers to carry out the redevelopment.In conclusion, textbook is an essential element in Senior English teaching. The traditional idea of using good textbooks has been replaced by the idea of using textbooks better and creatively. Finally, the study searches greater understanding the textbook redevelopment and sustainability of professional development to promote the teachers’ ability in the complex redeveloping process.
