Objectives To provide the reference for humanistic education of higher vocational nursing students, the current situation of higher vocational nursing students’ perception of social support, gratitude consciousness and humanistic care capability were investigated; and the influencing factors of higher vocational nursing students’ perception of social support, their gratitude consciousness and their humanistic care capability, the correlation among higher vocational nursing students’ perception of social support, their gratitude consciousness and their humanistic care capability were analyzed; the influencing factors of the comprehensive intervention were studied. It may be used to guide the perception of social support and gratitude consciousness on higher vocational nursing students’ humanistic care capability.Methods 1. The current status was explored using the cross-sectional method, and taking 560 nursing students as the object of investigation, which werecome from a higher vocational college in Hengyang City. The students were asked to answer the questionnaires including the general situation of these students, the perception of social support scale(PSSS), gratitude consciousness scale, and humanistic care capability scale(CAI). The current status and the influencing factors of higher vocational nursing students’ perception of social support, gratitude consciousness and humanistic care capability were statistically analyzed. 2. The intervention was studied by the quasi-experimental design, and averagely and randomly selecting 80 higher vocational nursing students, who did a work placement, from two class A tertiary hospitals in Hengyang city. Then randomly selected 40 students as the intervention group at a hospital, and the rest as the control group(n=40). The control group accepted the traditional clinical teaching. Besides that, the intervention group accepted the comprehensive intervention, guided by the perception of social support and gratitude consciousness. After 8 weeks, two groups were going to compare in the perception of social support, gratitude consciousness and humanistic caring ability. 3.The Statistical Package for the Social Sciences(SPSS) 18.0 was used to analyze the data. Measurement index expressed by the mean( sx ±) standard deviation, count data expressed in percentage, mean were compared with single factor analysis of variance, t test, χ2 test, Wilcoxon Rank Sum testand linear correlation statistical analysis. Taked P<0.05 as the difference, which had statistical significance.Results 1.The scores of 548 higher vocational nursing students’ perception of social support, friend support, social support and other support were(56.26±10.62),(18.96±4.47),(18.71±4.10) and(18.59±4.00), respectively. Gender, the participation frequency of extracurricular activities and professional interests were the influencing factors for the score of higher vocational nursing students’ perception of social support. These three factors explained 9.2% of the total variance. 2.The total scores of higher vocational nursing students’ gratitude consciousness was(51.73±6.47). The scores of four dimensions from the highest to the lowest were respectively as following: gratitude’s depth(18.96±2.64), gratitude’s frequency(11.29±1.94), gratitude’s breadth(11.22±2.02), and gratitude’s density(10.26±1.74). Gender, only one child or not, the participation frequency of extracurricular activities and professional interests were the influencing factors for the scores of higher vocational nursing students’ gratitude consciousness. These four factors explained 36.3% of the total variance. 3. Among the higher vocational nursing students, the total scores of the humanistic care capability, the scores of cognitive, the scores of patience and the scores of courage were(171.24±19.26),(68.20±10.41),(52.04±7.85)and(51.00±11.53), respectively. Gender, character, only one child or not, the participation frequency of extracurricular activities and professional interests were the influencing factors for the score of higher vocational nursing students’ humanistic care capability. These five factors explained 18.7% of the total variance. 4. The higher vocational nursing students’ perception of social support, gratitude consciousness and their humanistic care capability were positively correlated(r>0.3, P<0.01). The higher higher vocational nursing students’ perception of social support and gratitude consciousness were, the higher humanistic care capability was. 5. Before the intervention, the demographic data between the intervention group and control group were equally comparable(P>0.05); there were not significant differences for the scores of perception of social support scale, the scores of gratitude consciousness scale, and the scores of humanistic care capability scale between two groups(P>0.05). After the intervention,compared with the control group, the scores of perception of social support scale, the scores of gratitude consciousness scale, and the scores of humanistic care capability scale were significantly increased in the intervention group(P<0.05). 6. After the intervention, the scores of perception of social support scale, the scores of gratitude consciousness scale, and the scores of humanistic care capability scale in the control group were not significant differences(P>0.05), but the scores in the intervention group were all increased(P< 0.05).Conclusions 1. Higher vocational nursing students’ perception of social supports was at a medium level. Gender, the participation frequency of extracurricular activities and professional interests were the influencing factors for their perception of social supports. 2. Higher vocational nursing students’ gratitude consciousness was at a medium level. Gender, only one child or not, the participation frequency of extracurricular activities and professional interests were the influencing factors for their gratitude consciousness. 3. Higher vocational nursing students’ humanistic care capability was at a lower level. Gender, character, only one child or not, the participation frequency of extracurricular activities and professional interests were the influencing factors for their humanistic care capability. 4. The comprehensive intervention, guided by the perception of social support and gratitude consciousness, was helpful for improving the higher vocational nursing students’ perception of social support, gratitude consciousness and humanistic care capability.
