| Under the guidance of national policy of "gender equality" and multicultural development and fusion, women’s social status has been significantly improved, and their independent consciousness has been gradually strengthened, especially for the female graduates in the social transition. They have the features of traditional culture, as well as changes, brought by fusion of native culture and foreign culture, which is also reflected in their life of love and marriage. Compared with traditional views on love and marriage, they emphasize on "self" in the gender relations. They break through the consciousness imprisonment of traditional culture to seek their own needs and development, which also challenges traditional concept of "every Jack of age should have his Jill" and "men are dominant and women are subordinated".At the same time, we also have to face such a problem:the social evaluation on female graduates of master’s degree or above is mixed, especially on their love and marriage. The public discourse gender impression for the female graduates makes female graduates of master’s degree or above more embarrassing in love and marriage, which makes a personal problems rise to the social level. This paper argues that the problem of female graduates’ love and marriage should be viewed dialectically. For those female graduates who are still single, the cause is more existed in "cultural extrusion" during their process of love and marriage, in spite of their personal reasons. With the method of in-depth interview method and bibliographical research, relying on gender theory, this paper analyzes nine female graduates’views on love and marriage and dissects the stereotyped image towards females in love and marriage from three dimensions of views on spouse selection, love, as well as marriage and family. Through the analysis, this paper holds that their views on love and marriage are effective combination of traditional marriage ideology and modern marriage ideology. They have the features of traditional Chinese woman such as the yearning to love and dedication to family, as well as the charm of modern woman such as their capability, independence and toughness. This paper is divided into four chapters:The first chapter is the introduction which elaborates the topic background and significance, theoretical basis, research methods, research contents, etc., and meanwhile analyzes and summarizes the existing research results. The second chapter is theoretical analysis. In addition to defining the related concepts, this part emphasizes on the understanding of gender theory. On the one hand, gender theory provides a new perspective for the research of female’s love and marriage. On the other hand, gender theory provides methodology guidance for the research of female’s love and marriage. The third chapter is interviews on female graduates’ views on love and marriage. This chapter mainly discusses from three aspects, namely their views on spouse selection, love, marriage and family. Through in-depth interviews, it found that their love and marriage ideas are different from that of traditional women’s, but the integration of traditional concepts and modern opinions on love and marriage, or even their ideas are of outstripping nature to a certain extent. The fourth chapter is the conclusion. Through in-depth interviews on female graduates, it found that, the pursuit of gender harmony and equality has profound impact on their attitude towards love and marriage. It is mainly manifested in the following aspects:firstly, they have more objective understanding on themselves, lay emphasis on their own development, and have more rational attitude towards love and marriage. Secondly, their gender consciousness changes from gender differentiation into integration. Apart from the physical structure, they think that the two genders have no obvious differences. Social stereotype is the main causes of female graduates’ disadvantage in the market of love and marriage. Thirdly, gender roles change from a clear division of responsibilities to shared commitment. In terms of family division, they all think that share both inside and outside of family affairs is the most reasonable model of role assignment. In this paper, the establishment of marriage and family is no longer just to maintain the survival of the community for the female graduates, but to find soul mate of spiritual communication to build a nest for their emotion and soul. Family role relationships are no longer bound to each other, program-type distribution but growing up together. |
