The construction and application of model is an important way to form scientific mind. However, teachers seldom pay attention to it in teaching practice. Modeling Teaching Approach is a new kind of teaching mode developed in recent years and many advantages of this teaching mode has attracted the attention of educators in mathematics and physics, but, studies of the teaching mode in chemistry were found and modeling teaching has not been widely used in Chemistry teaching in senior high school yet. Therefore, it is necessary to study this mode in chemistry teaching for the teachers in senior high school.In this article, two methods, literature retrieval and investigation ones, were used to study the Modeling Teaching Approach in chemistry teaching of senior high school. Firstly, the author collects a large number of literatures on modeling teaching. Secondly, questionnaires and comparative method were used to analyze the effects of Modeling Teaching Approach on teaching practice. Based on comparisons between the performance of chemistry teaching with the Modeling Teaching approach and the traditional teaching one, the author can reach some important conclusions.The first part of this paper presents the background and the significance of the research and, also reviews on the experience of Modeling Teaching theory and its applications. In general, the studies of teaching application for modeling and simulation used in chemistry are quite less than those in mathematics and physics. Furthermore, the studies of mode teaching on chemistry all covered on the significance and measures. As contrasted with the former studies, this study aims at providing some useful methods of modeling teaching for chemistry teaching in senior high school.The second part of this paper is an overview of Modeling Teaching theories. The Chemistry Modeling Teaching is defined as a teaching method in which the approaches of both the abstract teaching and the specific teaching are combined with each other tightly. During the teaching process, students learn chemistry by a series of exploration activities such as observations of knowledge model, experiments and research on this model established by chemistry teachers.The third part of this paper introduces principles and strategies of Chemistry Modeling Teaching in senior high school. Two aspects are included in this part. The one is teaching principles of Modeling Teaching. The other one is the teaching strategies of Modeling Teaching.In the fourth part of the paper, two teaching plan examples, designed by chemistry teachers based on Modeling Teaching Approach were used to teach chemistry in classroom. At the same time, the teaching comments on them are given. By the implementations of the mode teaching on both the Chemical Reaction Rates and the Amount of Substance, it can be concluded that the Modeling Teaching Approach is a better way to improve teaching efficiency.The fifth part of the paper showed an investigation and analysis on the mode teaching. The results of the investigation indicate that Modeling Teaching Approach is a practicable and effective way in daily teaching compared with traditional approaches.The sixth of the paper include that the conclusions and limitations of the study and prospect for Chemistry Modeling Teaching in senior high school. According to the analysis of experiment data, one can conclude that, Modeling Teaching can develop students’ interesting in chemistry leaning and leads students to get the better scores in chemistry leaning. However, it should be noted that there still are some limitations in this study. Modeling Teaching, which attracted much attention of scholars, has been widely used in mathematics teaching and Physics teaching. However, research on its properly usage in chemistry teaching is at the beginning stage, which indicated that the Modeling Teaching will bring chemistry teaching a brighter prospect and will be an important teaching approach in chemistry teaching.
