Research Purposes:To investigate the effects of the long-term walking and Tai Chi exercise on cognitive function in the elderly’s mood, study-test paradigm were used to record the behaviour and EEG of the subjects to the emotional faces in the study phase and test phase. In the study phase behavioral responses to emotional faces and event-related potentials(Event-Related Potential, ERP) were recorded; in the testing phase mainly investigate different groups of subjects for behavioral responses to emotional faces recognition and new and old effect of ERP, research walking and Tai Chi exercise on elderly emotional memory function, and then explore the long-term integrated walking and Tai Chi exercise to delay cognitive deterioration elderly emotional effect.Research Methods:By selecting qualified screening questionnaire was tested 63 people, including young sedentary group of 16 people, old sedentary group of 15 people, old walking exercise group of 16 people and old Tai Chi group of 16 people. The emotional face learning-test paradigm, from Beijing normal university in the preparation of the "Emotional Gallery In China" to select 64 face images as stimulus materials of learning phase, in addition to select 168 testing phase difference, face, neutral and negative face each half. In the learning phase were required to make the recognition of faces potency and memory as soon as possible, in the testing phase were required to make a determination on the face of old and new, while recording the subjects in the study phase and test phase behavior and EEG data, afterwards for off-line analysis. For the learning phase analyzes the different groups of subjects of frontal and parietal regions N1,P1,N170,N3,P3 peak latency and peak difference; and in the testing phase analyzes the different groups of subjects at 380~500ms,500~700ms frontal and parietal ERP evoked average amplitude differences.1. Walking and Tai Chi exercise to identify the behavior of the elderly emotion:(1) Emotional faces discrimination accuracy of study phase: old sedentary group is significantly less than young sedentary group in the correct rate of different faces potency identification(P<0.01); old walking group was significantly greater than the old sedentary group in correct rate(P<0.05); old Tai Chi group significantly greater than old sedentary group in correct rate(P<0.01); old walking group and old Tai Chi group had no significant difference in accuracy(P>0.05).(2) Emotional faces discrimination reaction of study phase: old sedentary group was significantly greater than young sedentary group in the reaction(P<0.01); There was no significant difference between the old group(P>0.05).2. Walking and Tai Chi exercise on elderly emotional memory behavior:(1) Emotional faces memory accuracy of test phase: The accuracy of old sedentary group memories old and new faces discrimination is significantly less than young sedentary group(P<0.01); old walking group was significantly greater than old sedentary group in correct rate(P<0.05); There was no significant difference(P>0.05) between old Tai Chi group and the old sedentary group in accuracy; old walking group was significantly greater than the old Tai Chi group in accuracy(P<0.05).(2) Emotional faces memory reaction of test phase: old sedentary group to determine the reaction of the old and new faces of memory was significantly higher than the young sedentary group(P<0.01); There was no significant difference between the old group(P>0.05).3. Walking and Tai Chi exercise on elderly emotional cognitive of ERP components:(1) The amount of area in the N170 peak latency, the old sedentary group N170 peak latency was significantly less than the young sedentary group(P<0.05).(2) In the top area of the peak P3, the old sedentary group was significantly less than the young sedentary group(P<0.05); There was no significant difference between the old group(P> 0.05).4. Walking and Tai Chi exercise on elderly emotional cognition of new and old effect: On the 380~500ms and 500~700ms average volatility induced parietal ERP, old sedentary group was significantly less than the young sedentary group(P<0.05); old walking group greater than the old sedentary group in the average amplitude, but no significant difference(P>0.05); old Tai Chi group had no significant difference(P>0.05) with the old sedentary group in the average amplitude; old walking group greater than the old Tai Chi group in the average amplitude, but no significant difference(P>0.05).Research Conclusions:1. Behavioral and ERP component analysis showed the presence of emotional cognitive function in the elderly degradation.2. Long-term walking and Tai Chi exercise can delay the degeneration of cognitive function in the elderly sentiment to some extent. Walking and Tai Chi exercise can delay the decline associated with aging emotional face recognition function to some extent, the same effect as the two exercises. Walking exercise can delay aging-related decline in cognitive function emotional faces some extent, Tai Chi exercise had no effect.3. Long-term walking and Tai Chi exercise on elderly emotional effects associated new and old effect of ERP had no significant effect.
