With the popularity of multimedia technology,multimedia learning has become the main learning mode in current education field. Bringing lots of advantages to education field,the multimedia learning also faces a lot of challenges. Some researchers’ studies showed that many teachers and learners were accustomed to the traditional mode so that the advantages of multimedia learning had not been displayed. Especially in the process of teaching practice,the design of learning activities was not take seriously by teachers and its importance was ignored by most of them,which made learning activities difficult to be effectively implemented. So,it is difficult for learners to learn in order to improve the efficiency of study. To sum up,how to design effective learning activities to promote the mutual communication between teachers and students,and how to improve students’ learning efficiency to ensure the deserved actual effect of the implementation of learning activities in the complex multimedia learning environment,are those critical problems that we should think and study deeply.The author mainly adopt multiple research methods which mainly include literature review,experimentation,content analysis and interview. The main contents of this paper as follows:First of all,the author summarize the research from all over the world and make sure the direction and main content of this research. Then expound some basic concepts related to this research,such as multimedia learning and learning activities. Second,in accordance with the paradigm of cognitive psychology,the author have a further study on multimedia learning with the information processing perspective. Then probed deeply into the connotation and characteristics of the information processing based on multimedia learning,as well as the main factors that affect the information processing of learners Third,in this paper,the information processing model and the design process and the framework of activities base on multimedia learning were proposed in the basis of the existing model of information processing and the main ideas of Constructivism Learning Theory. Finally,based on the model of information processing and the design process of learning activities and the framework,the author selected a specific subject,English teaching in primary school to design learning activities,then launch the implementation of activity cases in the two classes of grade three in a primary school, verify the validity of learning activities in this study and get the final research conclusions.
