This paper focuses on the application of the teaching model "Learning Guided by the learning plan" in senior high school English teaching and studies the effect of the model experimentally. In recent years, the teaching mode of the learning plan teaching is widely employed in all types of schools at all levels and in various disciplines, and has a profound impact on teaching and learning. It can improve the students’ interest in English learning, and their subjectivity in study can also be fully stimulated. Meanwhile, the students’ability of independent learning and cooperative learning can also be strengthened. Therefore, their academic performance is sure to be improved.The main purpose of this paper is to study the feasibility of the model in high school English teaching, which aims to find a teaching mode with a combination of learning plans and teaching plan, textbook and life practice, skills and competency training and thus to improve the efficiency of English teaching in high school. Under the guidance of this purpose, the author who has taught English for many years in Changsha No.1 Railway Middle School launched a series of teaching research. This study selected two classes in the same grade which were at the same teaching level, and chose one class to try the "Learning Guided by the Learning Plan" Model, choosing the other for comparison. The whole experiment period was one academic year.By making the learning plans and teaching plan, examination test, questionnaire, this study conducted a statistical analysis and comparison of the collected data information. The methods employed in this study are literature analysis, questionnaires, theoretical analysis, and statistical analysis. The results of these questionnaires and the experiments were analyzed. And at last, the feasibility of the teaching model "Learning Guided by The learning Plan" is summarized.In this research, we find that:(1) the teaching model "Learning Guided by The Learning Plan" can improve students’ interest in learning English;(2) the teaching model "Learning Guided by The Learning Plan" can change students’way of learn;(3) the teaching model "Learning Guided by The Learning Plan" can improve students’academic performance.Because of my limited knowledge, time, etc., there are some limitations and flaws in this paper. Firstly, the study has a small range. It is conducted in only two classes in No.1 Railway Middle School of Changsha. Although the study is preceded smoothly under the school leaders’and teachers’help and is eventually completed, the conclusion of it is still debatable when it is applied in the whole grade, the whole school and other senior high schools. Secondly, because of my not in-depth academic system, personal knowledge level and other restrictions, I cannot understand of the teaching model "Learning Guided by The Learning Plan" thoroughly and comprehensively, and I haven’t explained some problems accurately enough, leading to some relatively shallow views on them.
