Research On The Understanding About“love” Of 5-6 Years Old Children

Love, is the eternal topic of mankind.Previous studies on the "love" were mainly based on adults’ perspective, lacking relevant research from children’s perspective. Children have the right to express themselves,their voice should be concerned. This study is based on children’s perspective. The researcher selects the top class children in a kindergarten as the research object, exploring their understanding of love by using literature, interviews, observation, drawings analysis, questionnaires and other research methods.By sorting the interviews data, combined with children’s drawings,the researcher tries to present the 5-6 years old children’s understanding of love. It includes five aspects: "What Love Is";the importance of love;love behavior;expression of love and the experience of love. The study finds that based on their own life experiences most children have their own views about “love”. They can express their views in plain language and understand love from different angles. Most children have their own ways to express love and their emotional experience of love is positive.By further analysis, the study finds that children’s understanding of love has diversity, surface, instability, specific and different characteristics.In addition,the research finds that the existence of “Teacher absence” phenomenon and self-center tendency in children’s understanding of love.Their ability of identification of “love” should be improved.Generally speaking,most of children have caring skills.Finally,the corresponding educational suggestions are put forward to improve children’s understanding of love.
