Since China’s opening-up and reform, its vocational education has witnessed rapid development, where the vocational middle-school education has become an important sector of the nation’s vocational education. However there exist problems in many middle vocational schools in terms of their construction of curricular programs. Through case study, questionnaire, literature review, interview and observation, the author summarizes those problems, analyzes the reasons, and proposes a number of countermeasures.Based on the above though, the paper is designed on the following structure. Chapter One introduces the concepts like vocational middle school, curricular program, curricular development and construction, with background and significance expounded. Chapter Two covers literature review, examining the current status of vocational schools in two dimensions, i.e., concept of education and concept of curricular program in vocational education. In view of current status of vocational middle schools, the chapter also introduces history, features, and overall actualities in terms of construction of curricular development. Chapter Three points forward the research argument, covering the research target, objective, thoughts. Chapter Four outlines the research plan including research methods, case-study school, and statistics. Chapter Five summarizes existing problems in this regard, as well as factors that effect the curricular program construction. Chapter six analyzes the reasons of existing problems. To address these problems, Chapter Seven proposes countermeasures and suggestions against these problems.This proposed study focuses on the curricular program construction at vocational middle schools, in hope of pushing it towards a more standardized, scientific and rational dimension, all to enhance the school’s competitiveness, to best suit to the social and economic situation, and to best service China’s economic construction and social development.
