The etiquette culture education is an important factor in intercultural communication. In primary school, the school education attaches great importance to the etiquette culture education. Language teaching is more closely related to the culture teaching in English subject of primary school. As we known, some of the Chinese people sometimes seem impolite and inappro priate to English native speakers. This kind of misunderstanding is not due to the fact that Chinese people are not polite enough. It is the difference in etiquette culture and expression that causes barriers in communication between Chinese people and English native speakers. As primary school English teachers, we should pay attention to the etiquette culture of western countries while teaching English language.The paper aims to solve the problems that research on etiquette culture in English teaching of primary school is hardly found. What’s more, it also aims to provide the reference for the teachers. Last but not least, it seeks to find out a set of feasible teaching strategies through the classroom practice. Etiquette culture education in English teaching plays a very important role, which is widely acknowledged by English teaching circle. It aims to provide the opportunities for students to understand the Chinese and Western etiquette culture, to form the good manners and to promote the intercultural communication ultimately while learning English language.In the first chapter, I briefly introduce the background and basis of the research on etiquette culture. Then it introduces the purposes, the contents, the methods of the research. At last I present research status of this field in domestic and abroad briefly.The second chapter introduces the concept of “English teaching in primary school”, “etiquette culture”, “etiquette culture education”. Next, in this paper I explain the theoretical foundation of etiquette culture education in English teaching of Primary School from different aspects of the Cross-cultural Communication Theory, Constructivist Learning Theory and Two-language-acquisition Theory. Then, it presents the understanding of Chinese and Western etiquette culture education of English subject in primary school.The third chapter, from different angles, includes the basis of objective setting, the principle and classification of content selection of etiquette culture education in English teaching of Primary School.In the fourth chapter, this paper introduces a research on the status of etiquette culture in primary school English teaching in HP area with the methods of questionnaire investigation and interview. Also it presents analysis and r esearch from different angles on the problems of the classroom teaching. It shows the results of these aspects: teachers’ attitude, teachers’ understanding, teachers’ knowledge, the problems about contents, English teaching methods and the difficulties.In the fifth chapter, the paper discusses how to improve the etiquette culture education in English teaching of Primary School. Besides, it puts forward some constructive opinions such as objective, content, learning methods and usage of mode.
