The trigonometric function,which has the properties of periodicity, symmetry, parity and canbe applied widely in real world, is a special fimction, so it plays an important part in high school students’math learning and meanwhile of great research significance. Paying attention to learning outcome, Traditional learning evaluation systems mainly use examination patterns to evaluate students’ learning. This study adopted SOLO taxonomy fixing on the quality of students’ learning and proposed by Biggs in 1982 as the basic framework.According to math curriculum standard of primary and middle school in Shanghai City, goals of trigonometric function in high school math textbooks and related problems in exams and references over the years, I had designed the pilot test. With the analyses of reliability and validity of 32 pilot papers, I founded that the judgement of SOLO level had the disadvantages of indefinity and repeatition. Then I choosed the substructure of SOLO taxonomy proposed by Trigwell&Prosser in 1991 and Burnett in 1999 as the basic framework, revised the test according to the feedback of students and applied the substructure to formulating the SOLO level standards. The formal research sampling teachers and 204 grade one high school students from 3 key school in Shanghai, mainly studies (1) the trigonometric function learning SOLO level of grade one high school students;(2) the trigonometric function solving methods used by the students; (3) the main factors that affect the SOLO level of students.The findings:About 80% of the students is classified to the higher level of Multi-structural or Relational,but for different content the SOLO level of students has a certain difference. In aspects of application of trigonometric function model y=A sin(wx+φ),the graph and property of the type of tangent function and the graph and property of the type of sine function, about 50% or more of the students is classified to the highest level of Relational.The methods used by the students are piecewise function fitting method,trigonometric function fitting method,the related angle formula,1 substitution method, undetermined coefficients method,Unit circle method and graph method.The main factors that affect the SOLO level of students are:(1)whether the students entirely master all the content of the trigonometric function.(2)whether the students understanding the basic concept of trigonometric function.(3)whether the students can use calculator reasonably.(4)the teaching opinion and method of the teachers.(5)different school textbooks used by the school.
